The first Green Expo held at the Carlsbad – Holiday Park invites everyone to celebrate with us at the Eco Pavilion. Enjoy arts and ecology activities for children and adults, dynamic workshops, info booths, delicious snacks, eco fashions and a non stop line up of dancers, musicians, and performance artists representing Brazil, Cuba, West Africa, Hawaii and many more all with a tropical lifestyles theme. Come dance with us during our Eco Carnival Parade featuring Union and Super Sonic Samba Schools with dancers, the World Beat Cultural Center Ensemble and much more. Businesses, non-profit groups and artists coming together for this event demonstrate that cultivating clean energy and caring for our natural and human resources is vital to the health and future of our planet and really is a whole lot of FUN!!!

Live Music

Samahan Philippine Dance Company - SAMAHAN Philippine Dance Company, the Center's performing group, brings the enchanting atmosphere of the Philippines to your special occasion.  Attractive, highly-trained dancers in beautiful, colorful costumes will entertain you with a variety of dances from the islands of Luzon to Mindanao.  Repertoire includes dynamic tribal dances of Northern and Southern Philippines, Spanish influenced--Maria Clara dances and exciting rural dances of the Philippine country-side. Starting as part of the Youth Program of the Council of Pilipino-American Organizations of San Diego County (COPAO), the Samahan Philippine Dance Company was organized in July, 1974 under the direction of Lolita Dinoso Carter, Ph.D. The purpose of the Samahan Philippine Dance Company was to provide Filipino youth opportunity to gain knowledge and appreciation of their cultural heritage.

East Of Echo - East of Echo performs a new breed of reggae music.  Its members have been performing live music for more than 30 years, and have performed in conjunction with international acts such as the Wailers, Culture, Gregory Isaacs, and the Mighty Diamonds.  EAST OF ECHO members include: TIMMY WINTER (Guitar and Trumpet): Tim is the master of harmony and melody who will hypnotize you with his soaring themes and haunting melodies.  BOB SIGGINS (Pedal Steel Guitar & Banjo): when you hear the blistering sweet sound of Bob’s scorching slide guitar you will understand why we call him “the Legend”.  RAD PAUL (Bass Guitar):  If you have never experienced the throbbing vibrations of Rad Paul’s pulsating Bass Guitar, proceed with caution, the next day your body may suffer withdrawals.  RUSS SEDAT (Drums): Russ’s blazing drums create a rhythmic inferno where each song takes on a life of its own!  RHINO (Vocals, Percussion): At the heart of the band is Rhino, the master of 10,000 lyrics.  He is an entertainer’s entertainer!  You won’t find a nicer bunch of guys but be careful, their music is addictive!!!

DMT Supports Their Earth Mother - DMT is proud to announce their support of the Green Movement, and will be performing live in Woodley Park at the Green Expo Saturday March 20th and Sunday March 21st.

DMT is both honored and excited to be involved with this growing movement. As people are being made aware of the earth’s abuse and how it will come to affect them and their future generations, all they need do is look up into the smog filled sky and ask themselves how much longer it will sustain breathable air. How much longer until we our living a science fiction reality complete with gas masks and undrinkable water. They are realizing that polluting factories in developing third world nations are directly affecting their quality of life here at home.

We don’t promote the “Green Nazi” movement either, says Jamie, front man for the hard rocking metal band DMT. We’re not telling people to light candles and ride their bikes to work. We use electricity and drive our cars to work just like everyone else. But we do want to encourage the development of sustainable/ alternative energy sources.
